The World percussion ensemble takes over from the percussion works program in elementary school.  Percussion instruments are found on every continent and in nearly every society around the world. Percussive traditions have shaped cultures and communities.

World Percussion will reinforce the interdisciplinary skills participants have learned and introduce them to culturally diverse music from around the world such as Africa, South Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean, the Middle East, and South America.

World Drumming would continue to bring together our already diverse community of children and open their eyes and ears

to the sounds of the world.

As music perpetually changes, it is important to not only study the traditions from all around the world but to incorporate them into your playing in a way that expresses your own voice.

Ensemble Objectives:

Expand musical techniques and foundation skills.

Instill respect and love for other cultures and their musical traditions.

Learn about different instruments and allow those experiences to shape our own musical expression.

Learn to work cooperatively in a group setting.

To instill a love of music.
