Welcome to NoVa Youth Ensembles
Intermediate Wind Ensemble: NoVa Youth Ensembles’ Intermediate Wind Ensemble offers passionate young musicians in Northern Virginia the opportunity to advance their skills in a collaborative, supportive environment. Open to woodwind, brass, and percussion players with prior ensemble experience, our group focuses on developing musical technique, ensemble playing, and artistic expression through a diverse repertoire. Members rehearse and perform alongside peers from across the region, building confidence, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for music. The ensemble welcomes students ready to take the next step in their musical journey, fostering growth through high-quality instruction and inspiring performances

All students who meet the minimum requirement are accepted into the Wind Ensemble Program!
Wind Ensemble Requirements
Scales
Concert G, C, F, Bb, Eb, and Ab (please note that scales are called by their written pitch, NOT concert pitch)
The articulation for all scales will be legato tongue ascending and descending.
Solo
A solo that best demonstrates technical and expressive performance ability.
Percussion
5 stroke roll, 7 stroke roll, 9 stroke roll
Flam. Flam tap, Paraddidle, Ruff and Long roll
